Who is 8 Glasses Of Water?

8 Glasses of Water is me, Steluta Leu. I’m the founder and CEO. I’m also a health & wellness coach. And a life coach, of course. And I fortunate enough to live in Vancouver – Canada, one of the most amazing cities in the world.

Is it true that you left your >20 years career with Fortune 500 companies to become a coach?

Yes, it’s true! And I’m so happy for doing that. As much as I used to love my sales executive role, as I changed I felt that career was not making me happy anymore. So I decided to follow my dream of helping people feel and look amazing by living a healthier, happier, more balanced life.

What is your big “WHY”?

Well, that’s a beautiful question that I get asked (from time to time). 

When I was a high-achiever corporate sales executive, I was constantly living under stress. With deadlines, forecasts, targets, loooong (boring) internal strategy & planning meetings, and client meetings, and partner meetings. And attending and speaking at events. And travelling long distances. My health and wellness were the last thing on my mind. Until I hit the rock bottom.

So I know what it feels like to be in your shoes. 

Because I know that your work is so important to you that you probably neglect to eat, to sleep and even to speak to your loved ones. 

And I know that you cannot be at the top of your game unless you have a healthy mind in a healthy body. 

And you cannot get to live a long, healthy, sane and successful life unless you take action and change your habits to improve your health & wellness. Which is hard and very difficult to achieve when you’re doing it alone.

So my WHY is YOU! 

Because I know how important you are! And how important your work is to you and to the world. And because you deserve to be healthy and happy and even more successful. 

Because I believe that when you feel and look amazing in your body, everything else falls into place. And success follows suit.

Where are you from? I can’t tell by your accent...

I was born in Dracula’s country. And no, that’s not England, it’s Romania. I lived most of my life there. I also lived for 2 years in Prague, where I discovered and fell in love with yoga. And since 2018 I’ve been living in Canada.

What’s one thing that you really love?

Besides helping people learn and stick to healthy habits, I love food and cooking but I hate grocery shopping. Cause I hate the labels on the products. They make me not wanna buy things anymore.

You’re always talking about a healthy mind in a healthy body. What qualifies you to do that?

Well, I’m a certified health coach and a life coach. I’m also a certified yoga and meditation teacher. So I’m not only passionate about what I do, I’m also formally trained to do actually help you. Actually I got my yoga and meditation certification and I’ve been teaching yoga and meditation for 5 years prior to getting my health and life coaching certifications.

You’re a Primal health coach. What’s that all about?

Primal eating and living is a way of living your life based on the wisdom of our ancestors. It means eating and living to reach the maximum potential in your life. By using these principles and learning from the wisdom that helped our species survive and thrive for millenia, you’re turning on the genes in your body that help regulate you to be at your best.

How can a health coach help?

That’s a question that I get very often, especially from corporate people like I used to be. Well, when you’re looking to make major health changes from losing weight, to addressing chronic conditions, to recharging your vitality, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. So, this is where a health coach can make all the difference. Leveraging the expert guidance & personal support of a coach can be the most powerful investment you can make in your health.

What about a life coach. How can a life coach help?

That’s a good one. Have you ever felt that you’re stuck? That some things are not going the way you want them to, but you don’t know what to do to change that? Or that you know you could do so much more but can’t seem to get yourself to take action? Or this one: that you see things happening to you and keep on asking yourself why you? Well, this is where a life coach can help you. By partnering with you, by being truly present and listening to you, by inquiring you in order to provoke critical thinking about our own thoughts, and reflecting your words and patterns back to you, a life coach can help you uncover ways of achieving results that you’ve never even thought of  before. Because most of the time the only thing that stays in your way is yourself and your own thoughts.  

I’m weak. What should I do?

Hey, me too! (If that makes you feel any better.) Though some argue that focusing on work, my career and success makes me a high-achiever, not weak. Since I’m unable to cut off watching Netflix and eating popcorn (butter-soaked) high-achiever seems off. But I aspire to balance, not perfection. And I know, by studying how the brain works, that not doing certain things does not make me weak, it’s just my brain trying to protect me from change. Also try this Today is a new day approach.

So, why 8 Glasses Of Water?

Well, firstly, because my name is not easy for folks to remember. Though, when I translate it to them from Romanian they say it’s cute: ‘Little Star Lion’). Secondly, because that’s what the doctor say: if you wanna be healthy, drink 8 glasses of water. And lastly, because 8 is my favorite number and it is the ‘infinity’ sign in it’s sleeping position. And this is my favorite sign. I love it so much that I even tattooed it on my left wrist. (yeap, not kidding)

Is it true that you had a near-death experience?

Painfully true. It happened three years ago in Greece, where I was leading a yoga & sailing retreat. On the forth night we were hit by a big storm and we had to sail open waters for five hours to get to safety. It was then that I realized how short life is and decided to transform mine. But no worries, if you wanna transform yours,  you don’t have to go through such extreme experiences. I’m here, to help you do just that.

Transformation occurs when you open your mind to experience freedom. During the process, you transform your thoughts which enable you to leave behind old habits and negative thinking. You are then able to conquer your fears and remove self-doubt. This irrevocable transformation allows you to be seen in a new light. It reveals your unique characteristics and truthfulness.

An MRA test revealed that I have an incipient lumbar hernia (L5-S1) and also a patellar tracking disorder (one of my kneecaps keeps shifting out of place). I had poor flexibility, lower back, and knee pains. Since I’ve started working with Steluta (I also do Pilates) all these problems significantly diminished. For example, I used to use an anti-inflammatory gel for my knee on a daily basis, now I only use it once or twice a month, when the weather changes.
